With over 21,000 books, exhibition catalogues, current historic art & design periodicals, auction catalogs and vertical files on over 8,000 artists including those in North Carolina and held by our museum, The Mint Museum Library is an extraordinary free art reference available to all individuals interested in the visual and decorative arts. Nationally-recognized for its craft resources, the Library also houses an astounding collection of rare titles from the 17th through 21st centuries related to the Mint’s historic ceramics collection as well as other areas of the museums interest.

The Library consists of the J.A. Jones Reference Library focused on fine arts and the Delhom-Gambrell Reference Library for the decorative arts, both located at the Mint Museum Randolph. The Bank of America Resource Centers and Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Resource Centers are located at Mint Museum Uptown at Levine Center for the Arts. The resource centers provide selected print and multimedia materials for browsing on the changing exhibitions and the permanent collections uptown. Library services available in the non-circulating J.A. Jones Reference Library include scanning and copying (color and black & white at no charge) as well as free Wi-Fi.

To schedule a visit, please email the Mint Librarian or call 704.337.2023.

Library holdings may be searched through MARCO, the Mint Art Research Catalog Online.
