Rights and Reproductions

All images published on The Mint Museum Website are property of the Mint Museum of Art, Inc. (d/b/a Mint Museum Randolph and Mint Museum Uptown) unless otherwise noted.  Unauthorized copying, redistribution, publication, or exploitation of these images for commercial use or personal gain is prohibited. To request an image for reproduction please complete the Image Reproduction Application. All requests must include the name of the requestor, the intended use, work of art, and image format.

Please allow 2-4 weeks for processing, while large or complex orders for which new photography is required may take longer. Additional inquiries regarding images of works of art in The Mint Museum’s collection should be directed to the Registration Assistant, Office of the Registrar by email .



The Mint Museum respects the intellectual property rights of artists and others. Many of the works of art in The Mint Museum’s collection are protected by U.S. copyright law.  The Mint Museum does not own the copyright for all of the works of art in its collection, instead copyright may be held by the artist, an estate, gallery, or agency; thus, permission of the copyright holder may also be required for reproduction. While the Office of the Registrar will assist the applicant with contact information, it is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain permission from the copyright owner or administrator. The applicant must furnish written proof of permission granted to the Office of the Registrar.

The Mint Museum makes every effort to obtain and ensure that it has the appropriate rights to display and provide access to copyrighted material. Copyright holders who have questions or concerns regarding the use of a specific work should contact the Registration Assistant, Office of the Registrar.  All such inquiries will be investigated promptly.


The Mint Museum supports life-long learning, the advancement of knowledge, and curiosity; therefore, we do not object to the Fair Use of copyrighted material available on our Website in accordance with 17 U.S.C. 107 for noncommercial, educational purposes. These uses include teaching, scholarship, research, criticism, commentary, and news reporting.  Users must include the stated credit lines and source of the materials with reference to this Website’s address


There may be a fee for reproduction of an imageFees may vary based on the scope and purpose of each project. Permission to reproduce an image for publication is contingent upon completion of the Image Reproduction Application, proof of permission from copyright holder when necessary, and payment of the assigned fees.  The Mint Museum's charges do not include any copyright fees due to the copyright holder.  Payment is due 30 days after the receipt of the Invoice.

The requested materials will be sent upon receipt of payment in the form of a check (made out to Mint Museum of Art) payable in U.S. dollars, Visa or MasterCard, or a money order. Foreign payments must be made in the form of a wire transfer, an International or U.S. Postal Money Order, or a check in U.S. dollars written on a U.S. bank that is a member of the American Banking Association (ABA).

New Photography




Photography/Filming at the Mint Museum:


Still photography with a hand-held camera or cell phone is permitted for personal, noncommercial use of works of art in The Mint Museum's permanent collection.  All photography of a non-personal nature (i.e. editorial, commercial, advertisement) is prohibited without the permission of The Mint Museum. 

Inquiries for commercial and professional photography of The Mint Museum should be made to the Office of the Registrar at least one month in advance.  Please complete the Museum Photography/Filming Application to make an inquiry. Approval for commercial and professional photography will be made on a case by case basis.  A fee may be charged for use of facilities and staff time.

The Mint Museum reserves the right to deny permission to photograph or film on its premises.  Unauthorized reproduction is an infringement of the United States copyright law.
